Great Analog Clock

I found this analog clock I like:

Analog Alarm Clock

I like the following things about it:

  • It's big enough for me to see it from across the room
  • It's local to my computer. The clockface changes to the next minute at the exact same moment my digital display in the lower-right corner does under Windows XP.
  • Because it is based on local computer time rather than network time, it should work even if my Internet connection is down.
  • I use it to time myself when doing exercises from the other side of the room.
  • I use it to set the current time on an old analog clock I own that runs on one AA battery. While I can easily use a digital clock to set an analog clock, I like setting my analog clock with an analog clock that has digital accuracy. For whatever reason, I find using an analog clock to set an analog clock more natural.

I'm grateful that someone bothered to make this clock.

I've not tested this clock extensively. However I assume it is based on local time bacause of what I see. To know for sure, I'd have to peak under the hood and look at the actual webpage code to confirm that this is true.

Whitetip Search Engine Optimization Service

I was looking for some information on Vistaprint. Here's the article I clicked on:

Transferring Your Domain From Vistaprint

So many websites fail to communicate clearly. This website is the exception. It is easy to understand on first reading. The first thing I noticed is they make a complex topic—transferring a domain name—simple.

On the home page they describe their search engine optimization service. Again, very clear:

Whitetip SEO

Sometimes website owners feel the need to impress others. Better to make things simple, easy and clear.

This website does that. It makes things clear.

Find Any Website Location in the World

Oh,man. I was so sorry I did not bookmark
this website last night:

IP2Geolocation.com

I regreted not bookmarking or otherwise saving this site. Today
I spent half an hour trying to find it again.

Totally worth it! Not only can this website pinpoint where a
website originates from, it can also tell you where someone
was sitting when they sent you an email.

Of course, this does not work for web based email such as gmail
or yahoo mail. However, it will work if they sent the email directly
from their own computer and you copy and paste the IP address they
used.

To copy and paste the IP address, you need to fully expose all
email headers.

It also works great with forms that people fill out on the web
since these forms, generally speaking, are received via email.

I just now used this to find out where someone was sitting when
they filled out a form on my website. It turned out to be Woodland
HIlls, CA.

Award Winning Websites -- Address Doctor

OK. This is a new blog.
It is all about award-winning
websites.

Here's address doctor, my first
choice for an award-winning
website:

Address Doctor

In particular, I'm interested in
one feature of address doctor. This
is their address lookup feature:

Look up an address

This is an important feature that
helps me get international addresses
shoe-horned into the correct format.

I'll write more about his later.
